Omega-3 fatty acids are essential building blocks for your baby's brain, eyes, and heart. Scientific research indicates that Omega-3 fatty acids play a key role in prenatal, pregnancy, and early-childhood health, and are particularly central to the healthy development of your baby. Established studies show that Omega-3 fatty acids...
- Promote the neurological and intellectual development of your baby.
- Promote the development of your baby's cardiac and respiratory systems.
- Support the development of your baby's brain and eyes (visual organs and brain centers).
- Increase the cognitive/learning function of babies, with effects measurable to age four.
- Enhance visual learning and memory in infants and young children.
- Increase the attention span of your child (a benchmark of IQ for infants and young children) .
- Support pregnancy health of the mother, possibly reducing chances of toxemia (or pre-eclampsia).
- May help prevent premature delivery and pre-term labor.
A one-of-a-kind dietary supplement, Pregnancy Plus Omega-3 is formulated specifically for trying-to-conceive, pregnant, and nursing mothers to optimize fetal development and infant health. Deficient in most diets, Pregnancy Plus offers the Omega-3 fatty acids your baby needs healthy development - and for a cognitive-learning head-start!
Doctors suggest that pregnant and nursing mothers take Pregnancy Plus Omega-3 throughout pregnancy and while they are nursing. Trying-to-conceive women may also use Pregnancy Plus Omega-3 to build up their own stores of Omega-3 fatty acids and increase their general reproductive wellness.
Directions: Take 3 softgels a day, preferably at mealtimes or before bedtime. Keep out of the reach of children.
The Science of Omega-3s:
Benefits of DHA Supplementation in Pregnancy and Nursing
DHA is the Omega-3 fatty acid that is central to brain and eye growth. DHA is a key element of the nervous system, promoting neurological development - particularly visual and various cognitive function. That's why Pregnancy Plus Omega-3 is "DHA-Enriched".
Studies indicate that a baby born to a mother with high levels of Omega-3 fatty acids will more likely have advanced cognitive faculties and increased attention spans (a fundamental non-verbal indicator of intelligence in very early childhood). These effects have been measured up to age four, suggesting that there are long-term benefits of Omega-3 fatty acid consumption during pregnancy and nursing.
1. A study by Cohen, Bellingher, and Connor suggests that increasing maternal docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) intake by 100 mg/day increases child IQ by 0.13 points. (see #1 below)
2. "Maternal intake of very-long-chain n-3 PUFAs during pregnancy and lactation may be favorable for later mental development of children."
3. "..adding both DHA and ARA when supplementing infant formulas with long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids supports visual and cognitive development through 39 months."
4. "The trial indicate a small effect of DHA levels in breast-milk on early language development of breast-fed infants."
5. "Trials have shown that a higher maternal docosahexaenoic acid intake during pregnancy may be favourable for the visual and cognitive development of the offspring. The significant positive association between maternal docosahexaenoic acid intake during pregnancy and the children's mental processing scores at 4 years suggest that optimization of the docosahexaenoic acid status of expectant women may offer long-term developmental benefits to their children."
6. "..children born to mothers supplemented with fish oil in the last trimester of pregnancy start with a better docosahexaenoic acid status at birth, which may be beneficial to neonatal neurodevelopment."
